DevOps Lead
Job Description:
Skillsource is partnering with a leading technology and engineering organisation to hire an experienced DevOps Lead. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused leadership role responsible for driving automation, reliability, and operational excellence across backend systems that manage POS terminals and terminal configuration.
Working closely with platform, security, engineering, and product teams, you will design and deliver CI/CD pipelines, embed security tooling, mature operational processes, and ensure robust observability and release management across a complex, regulated ecosystem.
This position is fully onsite in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
Key Responsibilities
DevOps Delivery & Automation
- Define and deliver DevOps strategies for POS, Terminal Management Systems (TMS) and Terminal Configuration Systems (TCS).
- Translate roadmap and product requirements into CI/CD, deployment, and operational workstreams.
- Build, maintain, and optimise modern CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
Security & Compliance
- Integrate SAST, SCA, and DAST tooling (e.g., Fortify) to support shift‑left security.
- Implement secure secrets and key lifecycle management, including HSM interaction.
- Ensure deployments comply with regulatory, audit, and PCI‑related requirements.
Infrastructure & Environment Management
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform; manage Kubernetes and Helm deployments.
- Provision, maintain, and optimise dev, test, and production environments.
- Oversee configuration management and environment‑specific security controls.
Release Orchestration
- Design and execute release strategies: blue/green, canary, phased rollouts.
- Manage artefact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory) and ensure safe, auditable cutovers.
Observability, Monitoring & Reliability
- Instrument logging, metrics, tracing (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Define SLOs/SLIs, support incident response, and drive post‑incident reviews.
Performance & Cost Optimisation
- Lead capacity planning, load/performance tuning, and cost‑efficient cloud design.
Testing & Quality Enablement
- Embed automated testing (unit, integration, contract, E2E) throughout CI/CD pipelines.
- Coordinate device‑farm or emulator testing for terminal images.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with product, security, QA, Android/terminal engineering, and operations teams.
- Deliver clear technical status updates to programmes and senior stakeholders.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Skills
- Proven background in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles within large enterprise environments.
- Strong CI/CD pipeline development expertise (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience with security governance tooling (Fortify, SCA, DAST).
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker.
- Strong scripting: Python, Bash, Groovy or similar.
- Backend ecosystem familiarity:
- Java/Kotlin/Spring/Microservices
- REST APIs
- Kafka/message queues
- Relational & NoSQL databases

Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Certifications beneficial (AWS/Azure/GCP, Kubernetes, CISSP, etc.).
- ITIL knowledge advantageous.
