Skillsource is delighted to hire an experienced IT Support Engineer to join a client's operations in Co. Meath. This is a hands‑on role with responsibility for day‑to‑day support, troubleshooting, IT administration, security, and continuous improvement of the organisations technology environment.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organised, and committed to delivering excellent user support while maintaining high standards across hardware, software, networking, and IT security.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for all internal technical issues and support queries.
- Coordinate and manage support tickets raised with third‑party vendors to ensure fast response times.
- Provide technical troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network access issues to minimise downtime.
- Manage user onboarding, including account setup, hardware provision, and software configuration.
- Install, configure and update operating systems, Microsoft 365, laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Provide field support to technicians using handheld devices, including setup and device coordination.
- Manage user accounts and permissions, including creation, modification and removal.
- Liaise with external vendors for repairs, software support and specialist IT services.
- Support ongoing IT security improvements, including policy updates and software review.
- Contribute to infrastructure development, identifying opportunities for enhancements.
- Maintain a detailed IT inventory register covering all hardware and devices.
- Deliver regular in‑house training on security awareness and general IT usage.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge across Windows operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes quickly.
- Clear and confident communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong user‑support approach with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum three years experience in a similar IT support role.
