About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an Environmental Engineer to join a well-established consultancy operating across Ireland. The organisation delivers specialist services in brownfield regeneration, ground investigation, hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment, and environmental risk management.
The successful candidate will work across a broad range of projects and sectors, supporting both private and public clients. This role offers the opportunity to lead site-based investigations, produce high-quality technical reports, and contribute to the continued growth of the environmental team.
This is a hybrid position involving both office-based work and fieldwork across Ireland (typically 50% site / 50% office, depending on project needs).
Key Responsibilities
Site Investigation & Fieldwork

Plan, manage, and supervise ground investigation activities.

Conduct groundwater and ground gas monitoring.

Carry out fieldwork in accordance with relevant standards, guidance, and H&S requirements.

Interpret site data and oversee subcontractors as needed.
Technical Reporting & Analysis

Produce Phase 1 desk studies with preliminary risk assessments.

Prepare Phase 2 geo-environmental interpretative reports, including qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.

Review and interpret geotechnical and environmental data.

Prepare clear, concise, technically robust documentation for clients and stakeholders.
Client & Project Support

Liaise confidently with clients, design teams, regulators, and other project stakeholders.

Support delivery of contaminated land, hydrogeological, and environmental consultancy projects.

Assist in developing technical proposals and supporting wider business development activities.
Compliance & Best Practice

Ensure all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Apply current technical guidance and planning regulations relevant to contaminated land assessment.
Skills & Experience
Essential
-
Degree in geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science.

5 - 10 years consultancy experience in ground investigation or environmental assessment.

Strong technical background and ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental data.

Experience planning, managing, and supervising site investigation works.

Knowledge of contaminated land guidance, investigation standards, and remediation practices.

Proven ability to produce Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports (PRA, QRA).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Fully IT literate with strong report-writing capability.

Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental management.

Full clean driving licence.
Desirable

Masters degree in a relevant discipline.

Working towards Chartership (e.g. CIWEM, IEMA, Geological Society).

Experience contributing to business development or client growth strategies.

Relevant site accreditations (SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS, etc.).
-
Technical speciality in contaminated land, hydrogeology, or geotechnics.
