On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an Assistant Geo-Environmental Consultant.

About the Role

Our client is a leading global provider of consulting and engineering services, supporting projects across water, environmental management, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and international development. Following continued growth in Ireland, including securing a range of brownfield regeneration, ground investigation, and hydrogeological projects, they are seeking an ambitious Assistant Geo-Environmental Consultant to join their expanding team.

This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and provides the opportunity to develop project management and technical expertise within a dynamic consultancy environment. The position involves a blend of site-based work (approximately 50%) and office-based responsibilities (approximately 50%), with flexibility depending on project demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management of key client accounts, providing both technical and commercial assistance.

  • Assist in planning and delivering ground investigation works, including groundwater and ground gas monitoring.

  • Contribute to Phase 1 desk studies and preliminary risk assessments.

  • Support the preparation of Phase 2 interpretative reports, including qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including land contamination, environmental due diligence, groundwater, and geo-technical specialists.

  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders as required.

  • Interpret geological, hydrogeological, geotechnical, and environmental data.

  • Apply current contaminated land technical guidance and relevant planning regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental management standards.

  • Prepare clear, concise, and technically robust reports.

  • Support junior staff and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, or a relevant Environmental Science discipline.

  • Some relevant consultancy experience (graduate candidates will also be considered).

  • Awareness of contaminated land guidance and planning regimes.

  • Ability to interpret environmental and geotechnical data.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Fully IT literate with strong technical report-writing ability.

  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental management.

  • Full, preferably clean, driving licence.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skills.

  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a willingness to learn and develop in a consultancy environment.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Masters degree) in a relevant discipline.

  • Progress toward Chartership (CIWEM, IEMA, Geological Society, or equivalent).

  • Experience supervising or managing ground investigation works, including groundwater and ground gas monitoring.

  • Site accreditations such as Safe Pass or other relevant certifications.

  • Technical specialisation in a relevant environmental or geotechnical field.
